Hacktex consortium launches the Bootcamp, an intensive training course for university students!
27. 11. 2023
In a week from 13. 11 - 17. 11. 2023, the Hacktex project organised, in Borås, Sweden, an intensive training course named Hacktex Bootcamp. The course gathered students from the 4 participating universities: Gheorghe Asachi Technical University from Romania, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya from Spain, the University of West Attica from Greece and the hosting partner, the University of Boras.
Before the intensive course, all students had access to the virtual training materials on smart textiles (MOOC) and the virtual guide on entrepreneurship focusing on smart textiles.
The program, developed previously by the Hacktex consortium, counted with several dynamic activities and challenges which mixed students from all universities. The students were divided into teams and tasked with conceptualizing smart textile products, considering their raw materials and specific technologies, as well as issues regarding product sustainability. They also identified the specifics of the main steps to develop a business model for their respective products. The ideas generated by the teams were presented and discussed.
Other activities included a visit to a textile company in Borås, participation in the Borås Textile Days event and a visit to the textile museum at the University.
The multicultural experience of interacting with students, and the academic challenges were met with creativity, based on the knowledge from the lessons in the MOOC and the virtual guide on entrepreneurship and the possibility to attract young specialists toward the field of smart textiles represent the real gain of the HACKTEX Bootcamp.

ADDTEX Video preparation for the MOOC content
28.09.2023
TITERA took part in developing materials for the MOOC in the Addtex project where we covered topics related to smart transitions. Materials were developed in three levels, targeting three different target groups from Technicians to Experts.
In order to maintain professional, coherent and high-standard material delivery, we headed to Terassa to the UPC (Universitat Politecnica Catalunya) where we recorded videos for the upcoming MOOC.
ADDTEX Press Release
24.07.2023
ADDTEX consortium met again in Limerick, Ireland, on July 11th and 12th, hosted by IDEAM cluster and TUS – the Technological University of the Shannon. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the National Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC), National Technology Park.
The meeting started with an overview on the state of the art of the MOOC. UB, UPC, TUS and PIN presented the work done on the training materials and other partners provided useful feedback for the finalisation of the main contents and the preparation of the complementary materials (extra materials, assessment tool, document for students and e-book). During summer project partners will be busy with the recording and the set-up of the e-learning platform, which will be available by the end of 2023. The meeting continued with an overview of the state of the art of the different transversal activities: communication and dissemination, presented by CIAPE; quality, presented by Cre.Thi.Dev. and management aspects presented by AEI Textiles. Project partners actively contributed to the discussion. Overall, the project is proceeding well with key results expected to be delivered within the next months. Finally, INCDPT and AEI Textiles gave an introduction about future activities foreseen for 2024. Social activities and a guided tour of Digital Manufacturing Ireland accompanied this project meeting.

Addtex - advancing industrial digital and green innovations in the advanced textile industry through innovation in learning and training
Did you know that technical textiles are more than just clothing? They are key to supporting, protecting, improving and functionalizing many products. The EU strategy for sustainable and circular economy defines how future textiles are made.
Unfortunately, the new regulations and the transformation of the textile industry with comprehensive digital processes are a challenge for organisations, companies and training suppliers alike. The AddTex project is working in a way to enable the industry to achieve the specified set of goals.
AddTex project has released its first newsletter and we are inviting you to read all about it here: Newsletter 1 (mailchi.mp)

Hacktex consortium meets in Terrassa for its 4th TPM!
Last Monday, June 19th, the Hacktex consortium met in Terrassa for its 4th Transnational Project Meeting. It was organised and hosted by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. In line with the partners’ commitment, the meeting debates resulted to be efficient, fruitful and resolutive.
The meeting began with the project coordinator, TUIASI, giving an overview of the current state of the project as well as some management and financial guidelines to all present partners.
Then, Cre.The.Dev., the quality leader, provided information relative to the internal project evaluation as well as some tips for the partners to keep on efficiently implementing the project tasks.
Next, AEI Tèxtils, as the communication leader of the project, showed how the project has performed its outdoor dissemination with some data and statistics related to the Project website and social media profiles. The dissemination strategy to be implemented onwards was also discussed.
Afterwards, the consortium focused their discussions on the project implementation and results: R2 – Virtual training program on functional & smart textiles, R3 – Industrial & smart textiles bootcamp (intensive course for students), R4 – Virtual guide on smart textiles entrepreneurship, mostly.
For the R2, the development of the virtual training materials is already done. UNIWA, as a partner in charge, will manage the content to be uploaded virtually in an appropriate virtual platform, considering the main objective of the project, which is for these resources to be open and accessible. This virtual training will be tested by students, before they attend physically the Hacktex training that will be organised next autumn in Borås, Sweden.
About the result R3, the University of Borås boot camp training program proposal was discussed and agreed. The Bootcamp agenda was agreed.
Regarding the result R4, led by TITERA, partners shared their progress regarding the content elaboration, which is almost concluded. This content will also be available online and tested by students in their bootcamp experience in November.
Finally, partners discussed about when and how start with the R5 – Handbook of good practices to foster smart textiles into manufacturing sector.
HACKTEX project (Innovative smart textiles & entrepreneurship; project reference number 2021-1-RO01-KA220-HED-000027527) is co-funded by European Union.
HACKTEX - Innovative smart textiles & entrepreneurship
TITERA is participating in the HACKTEX project which aims to endow with resilience, versatility, and innovation the textile sector in Europe by addressing the gaps and mismatches detected between the academic sector and the industry.
The HACKTEX project will also facilitate future new opportunities for the textile sector through the connection with other industries and their knowledge.
These goals will be addressed by the design and testing of new educational methodology tools within the involved HEIs as well as with the research on smart textiles and their multiple applications. As a result, the project will produce several innovative contents related to smart textiles and their potential applications in medicine, automotive and aeronautics, sports, personal protection, for living and building, among others.
This content will follow educational methods designed in such a way that will enable students, as future textile
sector specialists, to explore new textile applications and products as well as tackle potential barriers and limitations.

Addtex - Advancing industrial digital and green innovations in the advanced textile industry through innovation in learning and training
The Addtex project, which lasts from July 2022 to June 2025, is implemented with twelve partner institutions from ten European countries. TITERA was successfully included among the project partners.
The Addtex main objective is to facilitate the flow and co-creation of knowledge between higher education (HEI) and vocational education and training (VET), research, a public-sector and business sector within the advanced textile materials sector to foster new, innovative and multidisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning. In parallel, the project aims to stimulate a sense of initiative and entrepreneurial attitudes, mindsets and skills in learners, educational staff and other workers, in line with the Green Deal and Entrepreneurship Competence Framework. Addtex will also improve the quality and relevance of skills developed and certified through education and training systems. The project will also reinforce the clusters in each region, supporting the education and training of advanced textile materials companies through linkages with HEIs and VETs.
